Final Post

HR&BP is an app that allows its users to track their heart rates and blood pressures. You will create an account where you provide height, weight, and dietary habits. Once you have provided sufficient information, you may hold your mobile device to your chest to receive a digital display of your heart rate and blood pressure. The app will then give you a schedule of your weekly workouts and what heart rate you should keep your heart at while working out. If you are not exercising proficiently, your mobile device will give you a warning.

I don’t think my idea has evolved since I first created it. There are certain parts of my idea that have developed. I have to say how to organize the data that my app will have to process will be more efficient and more. From all of the subjects we have learned in class, all of the material we have learned relates to my app.

With the growing problem of obesity in our world today, I think my app will become a reality. There are so many apps and gadgets that already promote a healthier life style, so maybe my app could combine with another product that already exists, but I do think my app could make a difference in the world today.

To make this idea a reality, there is one problem. It is not possible to just hold your phone up to your heart and receive your heart rate and blood pressure results. You need another gadget that can detect it. For example, Nike has a fuel band. My app could use similar technology.

Once that is developed, you develop the program and you would be all set to go! I believe this app could go very far because it is very relevant to society today!

Lecture Post: Databases

Databases are very important to HR&BP app. The app will obviously have a mass amount of information that will need to be organized. Databases will allow the app to function more smoothly. The database will organize all of the information that comes onto the server.

Databases are useful because no person is the same. Each person who uses the app is a different height, weight, goal, etc. To organize their information, databases will allow this to happen.

Content:
The writer of this blog is known as Inhabitat. His blog is about how companies are turning “green” and how there are new developments in “green cars”. Along with “green” cars, he writes about the development about clean, renewable energy.  Overall, the blog is about new developments in “green” energy.
The Only thing I do not like about his blogging style is that his blog is kind of hard to follow. The blogger writes about “green” gadgets but every paragraph is about a new gadget. I also didn’t really understand the description of the gadgets.

Lecture Post:
Cloud Computing is very important to my app. Cloud computing should allow the app to run smoothly without any problems such as freezes or glitches. Cloud computing will also allow the sharing of files than can be accessed online. This instant accessibility to files will allow my app to be accessible anywhere. You will be able to download my app on your phone and access your files from multiple devices. You can use it on your laptop, ipad, iphone, etc.

Cloud computing also reduces that amount of paper that would have been used for file sharing. It is a “green product” which helps saves our world. It allows for a more efficient program.

It would be horrible if my program were to crash. To make sure this doesn’t happen, I will use Amazon EC2. Amazon EC2 allows me to only pay for the amount of CPU that I will use. I will not have to pay for space that I am not using.

Competitive Analysis

Nike has created a “FuelBand”. This brand recognizes  the type of activity you are doing. For example, you could be running or playing basketball. This band calculates your movement into Nike “Fuel Points” that allow its user to set goals. As you reach closer to your goal, the color of the lights will change from red to green. Along with this bracelet, there is an app you can download to your Iphone.

The Nike Fuel Band could be combined with my product to form a new and better app and brand. The HR&BP app should also include a wrist band that will help determine your heart rate and blood pressure. Like the Nike Fuel Band, the HR&BP brand will also be able to detect your daily movements. This will allow the app and the bracelet to track your improvements.

There is an app that you can download to your phone that is called workout trainer. This app shows the user exercises and videos that show you how to perform each step correctly. This app also allows you to choose what area of the body you want to focus on.

This app can be combined with the HR&BP app to help the user choose parts of the body they want to focus on. They are both similar in the fact that both apps show the user how to perform certain exercises through videos. What the HR&BP app could take from the workout trainer app is that the user should be allowed to select what parts of the body they want to work on.
